Product details
The drum machines that defined electronic music were never about samples — they were about circuits. BABY Audio Tekno returns to that idea with 21st century technology: 18 fully synthesized drum engines, each generating its sound from scratch through a non-linear virtual analog circuit developed with analog-modeling specialist Jatin Chowdhury. The result is drums with the punch, depth, and beautiful unpredictability of classic hardware, without a single pre-recorded audio file.
Tekno’s 18 engines cover the full kit: Kick A and B (hard 909-style and boomy 808-style characters), Snare A and B, Hat A, Hat B, and open hat, Tom L and H, Clap, Rimshot, Conga L and H, Ride, Crash, Cowbell, Block, and a Tonal engine for pitched percussion. Every engine combines circuit-modeled virtual analog, FM, and digital DSP, with bespoke parameters for pitch, shape, and timbre. Deep calibration controls — accessed via the gear icons — let you bend the modeled circuits themselves for sounds no preset library contains.
Because Tekno synthesizes rather than triggers, every hit is subtly unique, exactly like the analog drum machines of old. This isn’t a marketing claim; it’s physics — the non-linear VA circuit never responds identically twice. The per-voice Humanize parameter lets you dial this character up, introducing natural variation in timbre, MIDI timing, and velocity across your patterns. Compare that to samples, which are frozen snapshots, and you’ll hear why Tekno’s drums feel alive in a mix.
The onboard effects were crafted with the same circuit-modeling rigor as the voices — no copy-paste FX here. Each drum gets tape saturation, excitation, ring modulation, reverb, and compression, while the master section offers a filter, reverb bus, and a limiter/clipper combo that delivers the smashed, release-ready punch modern electronic music demands. An analog-modeled clipper at the end of the chain is a major contributor to Tekno’s weight: calibrate the Clip slider to your pattern’s density, and remember Tekno is designed never to digitally clip your DAW.
The v1.1 update (free for all owners) added a full sequencer with dedicated lanes for all 18 voices and up to 32 steps per lane, smart randomization, shorten-able lanes for polyrhythms, speed multipliers, hit chance, four choke groups, freely assignable MIDI mappings, global undo/redo, per-voice Humanize, full kit sample export, and a dedicated reverb bus in multi-output mode. An iOS edition with full AuV3 support is also available from the developer.
Tekno includes VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats (64-bit) plus a standalone version, supporting macOS 10.11 and up with native Apple Silicon compatibility, and Windows 10 and newer. All major DAWs are supported.
For producers who want drums with genuine analog soul and infinite tweakability, Tekno is the modern drum machine done right.
Every customer receives their own individual license key. Instant download delivery via email.
Try before you buy: BABY Audio offers a free trial of Tekno, and the v1.1 update with the sequencer, choke groups, and kit export was free for all existing owners. The developer’s update history suggests your purchase keeps getting better over time. Licensing is simple — your individual key arrives by email instantly after checkout, authorized without dongles or invasive copy protection.
Multi-output routing sends each of the 18 voices to separate DAW channels for individual EQ, compression, and effects, with a dedicated reverb bus keeping spatial processing tidy. Route it, process it, and blend it exactly like a hardware drum machine tracked through a console.
