Product details
Ask a producer why their Afro House track sounds wrong and the answer is rarely the arrangement. It is almost always the sound selection. The genre’s tempo and drum patterns are easy to copy; the timbres are not, because they sit in a narrow band between electronic and organic that most synth presets miss. A bass that is too clean loses the physical push the groove needs. A pluck that is too synthetic breaks the link to the percussive textures the style grew out of.
This free pack of 40 Serum presets was built inside those constraints — and it costs nothing. Download it, use it, learn from it.
Built for the groove, not the drop
Afro House is music of restraint: sparse arrangements, long builds, basslines that carry the groove almost alone. That context punishes generic presets. These 40 patches were designed for it from the start — basslines with the weight and movement to hold a near-empty arrangement, leads that stay hypnotic across long repetitions, pads that add atmosphere without swallowing the mix, and plucks with the woody, marimba-adjacent character of the genre’s roots.
The stated references — Black Coffee, Culoe De Song — are not name-drops. They are the sonic vocabulary this pack speaks: deep, physical, patient.
Four categories, zero filler
- Basslines — the hardest element in the genre, solved first: deep, punchy, groove-locked.
- Leads — melodic and hypnotic, built for repetition rather than showboating.
- Pads — atmosphere with discipline; they fill without drowning.
- Plucks — percussive and organic-leaning, the rhythmic-melodic glue of the style.
Thirty variations on a lead and nothing for the low end is the classic preset-pack failure. This pack inverts it: the foundations come first.
A free masterclass in genre sound design
Because these are native Serum presets — not samples — every patch is an open book. The oscillator choices, filter settings and modulation routing are all visible and editable, which means you can see exactly how a professional Afro House bass gets its movement, or how a pluck gets its organic attack. For producers learning the genre, reverse-engineering these 40 patches is a genuine education. Tweak them, break them, rebuild them — that is what they are for.
They work in Serum 2 and Serum 1, so everyone is covered.
