Tuff Nerds LEADR

What Is LEADR?

LEADR by Tuff Nerds is a lead-focused sampler and synth plugin for Mac and Windows, built by producer Origami with one goal: make music fun and fast again. It combines a dual-slot sampler, built-in oscillators and a third source of physically modelled instruments, then wraps them in a chord engine, a unique cascading arpeggiator and an 18-effect rack. The result is a lead instrument that generates ideas as quickly as it plays them.

Sound Sources

• Dual-slot sampler — layer two one-shots or your own samples. Over 500 custom one-shots from the OTAKU packs are included.
• Oscillators — classic synth waveforms for body and aggression.
• Instruments — physically modelled guitar, strings, voice, choir and flute, arranged in the Instrument Stage: a mini band in a room where speaker placement sets the width and the carpet sets the damping.
• Textures — ambient beds of rain, birds, room tone and chimes layered under any patch.

Build in CRAFT, save your patches, and recall them in any session.

Chord Lock and MIDI Out

Chord Lock turns single notes into full chords — scale mode, fixed voicings or your own custom voicings — with strum and voice leading for natural movement. The chords are sent to your DAW as MIDI, so LEADR can conduct other plugins: route the chord and arp output into Serum, Diva or any instrument you own and stack textures while playing one key.

WATERFALL Arpeggiator

Instead of stepping note to note, WATERFALL cascades notes into a sustained wash you can ride — beautiful arpeggios at the press of a button. A second, drawable arp engine adds gate, swing, dynamics, grouping, two-hand mode, latch, stab and DICE pattern randomisation, with a live visualiser and saveable arp presets.

Effects and Modulation

18 effects are built in, covering the full lead-finishing chain. The Mod button modulates almost anything with a drawable shape, the OSC octave key shifts just the oscillator by octave, and the CHAOS control is on hand when you want the instrument to improvise with you.

Content and Compatibility

LEADR includes 200+ presets and 500+ one-shots (library ≈1.3 GB) and receives lifetime free updates — version 1.27 alone added new sound engines, the Instruments source, a full preset library, expansions and Logic support, with 1.4.0 continuing the run. It runs as VST3 and AU on Mac (macOS 10.15+, universal for Apple Silicon and Intel) and VST3 on Windows, in FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, GarageBand, Cubase, Studio One, Bitwig and all major DAWs.

Who Buys LEADR?

Electronic producers (EDM, house, techno, trance, hyperpop), beatmakers who write hooks first, and non-keyboardists who want real harmony from one finger. Every customer receives their own individual license key — the download and license are emailed after purchase.
